Dec show and things

October 21st, 2008

quick updates:

ok first off, full band set coming at The Basement in Nashville on Dec 2. so mark your calendar! i’ll let you know who the band is as it gets closer, it will be rockin’.

the host for bernkelly.com was having some server problems that have been resolved…so if you headed over there to download “milemarker” and the site wouldn’t load, it is now operational.

as always, the writing, recording, and mixing, of new songs is happening daily. strange enough not always in that order. either way, exciting stuff is on the way. possible EP coming around the new year. there are songs growing legs in multiple states and studios across this country.

so now its time to pick the what are you listening to or reading thing down below the blog. there is so much, i’m def gonna compile a list for the end of the year but in the meantime be sure to check out friend and fellow nashville-ian Gregg Wetzel’s “Straight Wages.” Its a great book, esp if you grew up in the Coal Region of Appalachia or ever got yourself into trouble on the Jersey shore.

Check out Straight Wages

keep well,

Free download of my new album: “milemarker”

July 11th, 2008

Hello folks,

Writing to let you know that you can download my new record: ”Milemarker” for free.

Download “Milemarker”

It’s a lossless download, meaning the quality is the same as a cd. prob takes anywhere from 5-10 minutes depending on connection speed. The record will be in a “zipped” folder so for mac users you’ll have to “decompress” and for pc users you’ll have to “extract” the folder. Easy stuff done with a few clicks.

About the album:

during a layover in PA between NYC and Nashville, i wrote a bunch of narrative, storytelling songs..all falling somewhere in the folk/old country realm, with the thinking: “lets write one of ‘these’ kind of songs.” After a late night run through of the songs on Producer Hank Ahrensfield’s back porch, we decided to track the songs and “see what we get,” which is funny, cause we always say that. Since all the songs are pretty short and to-the point (28 min in all) the recording process started that way. Paul Gallello put down all the drums in one day and everything evolved from there. Hank took the production and mixing to places ranging from the sounds of AM radio to some sort of big dance in a barn. We had a great time making the record, as i think you’ll hear in the tracks. As far as guests, our friend Nick Amato came in and played slide guitar on “Under this Moon” and “If You Find Me”. Also, my sister Bridget gave me the lyrics to “Anyone Like You.” Table Salt producer Leon Karpovich stepped in to mastered the record and brought this all to fruition.

Enjoy!
