Bern Kelly to release “Hudson Street Taxidermy” – the seventh installment in monthly single series

Nashville songwriter Bern Kelly is set to release a new single “Hudson Street Taxidermy” (March 30th via Underpass Records). This release is the seventh in a series of monthly pulp/noir inspired singles following this year’s: “When Condos Attack,” and “Adelaide, ” and the 2020 releases: “Tina Walks into the Hardware Store,” “5 to 10,” “It’s 1988,” and “Arcadia.” This series of singles is also the first new music from Kelly since 2017’s acclaimed full-length album: Lost Films (“Instant Classic…9/10,” Glide Magazine).

The songs were written and produced by Kelly over the past year and feature Ben Dumas (The Wild Feathers) on drums and Travis Vance (Thomas Rhett) on bass. Each release is accompanied by pulp artwork designed by filmmaker and designer Jordan Noel (This World Alone).

“This collection finds characters toeing the line of right and wrong in the back alleys of their own lives” says Kelly. These narratives play out as short stories and include some questionable deeds both tangible and impalpable. “Hudson Street Taxidermy” is a tale partly inspired by my time living in New York City. People can drift in and out of your life at the most random times, and in this case, in an unpredictable fashion.”

Eight total singles will release monthly on all digital outlets through April 2021, with a ninth song available on the complete collection: ‘Fantastic Stories!’ which will be available as an album in May ’21.

“This collection finds characters toeing the line of right and wrong in the back alleys of their own lives” says Kelly. These narratives play out as short stories and include some questionable deeds both tangible and impalpable. “When Condos Attack” is a small love story tucked into a larger story of over-development…which has invaded my own city of Nashville and plenty of others across the country. Our characters find themselves trying to re-visit their meeting place which has been replaced with a hastily-built and over-advertised new condominium.”

Eight total singles will release monthly on all digital outlets through April 2021, with a ninth song available on the complete collection available as an album in May ’21.
